Quietly beautiful and stealthily devastating.
We get Marin's story in bits and pieces, dribbled to us slowly through flashbacks and conversations. The use of language is sometimes gorgeous and perfect, and Marin's loneliness is an almost physical presence in the novel. Sweet and sad.

This is well written and a good study of characters and friendship. I think I may have read too many dealing with grief books lately.
