very dark. very very dark. Anita is a bit of a smart a**, which is always frustrating to me, because she gets herself in more trouble than she would need to, with her comments. there was a hint of sexuality, but not in an enjoyable way--it went alone with the detailed violence throughout the book. the assault by the rat people was super disturbing to me, for example. Were-rats is a clever idea, though, and I haven't read urban fantasy books until now that deals with zombies or ghouls or voodoo.

I guess it was good enough not to DNF since it was a quick read, but I felt like the writing was muddy and I just didn't really care about anyone. I hear the series improves, so I may keep trying, but it won't be at the top of my list.
