After so much hype, and that fabulous cliffhanger ending of book #2, I was underwhelmed by the finale. At the beginning, Tris is still struggling to stay alive and keep her friends alive in the new new world order. She must decide what energy to put into the "original mission" of the town, as told to them by her likely ancestor. Do they leave the city gates? Is there a world left outside them? My goal was to write review of the series when I'd read it from cover to cover. So here goes.

One of the greatest things I can say about the series is that it eschews SO many of the YA tropes that seem to litter the genre. Is it trope-free? No. But it's not propped up by a bunch of half-characters who never grow and, frankly, you don't expect most of the twists she throws at you.

Allegiant was a somewhat disappointing conclusion to the story begun in Divergent and continued in Insurgent. While the first two books were action packed and kept me guessing at who to trust and what would happen, this book got bogged down in romantic trysts and complicated conspiracies.

Tris and Tobias begin Allegiant unsure of where they stand with each other. Both have made choices they regret. Can they find common ground and rebuild their trust to resume a relationship? While I like that Rot
