Red Rising is a captivating read. Initially, it felt like it had the perfect mix of everything, but then there was a moment that left me a bit puzzled. Some elements seemed like they could've gone in a different direction, making more sense for the story's environment. However, I was invested in the narrative and never felt bored. Overall, I'd give it a solid 4

Late to the game but yes, this reminds me of Hunger Games and Ender's Game with a dash of An Unkindness of Ghosts.

I did not like this book; I read it solely to fulfill the 2018 Popsugar Reading Challenge category, "Goodreads Choice Award winner." (There weren't many books to choose from that looked interesting but I hadn't already read!) I plan to never read another book by Pierce Brown.

Two things first: 1) I didn't finish the book. 2) I received it as an ARC. I made it about 30% in and am just not engaged enough to keep going. I was forcing myself to read it, and kept putting it down and reading other things in between. It's well written, with some fantastic world building, and I hope I go back and finish the book. It's a very relevant dystopia with a lot to say.
