4,5 “SO MANY BEARDS” Stars

Ashley left home and her family behind a few years ago to find a life for herself in Chicago. She never regretted that decision and she never returned home. But when a sad family event happens she has to come home to her mother and her biggest support and her six (yes, SIX!) bearded brothers. Its when she meets Drew, another awesome and yes, bearded, man that will make her feel things that she wasn’t used to.

BATM is the fourth book of the Knitting in the City series, I recommend reading them all, because each book is truly AMAZE-BALLS! but this one can also be read as a standalone.

I really enjoyed this one. Ashley returns home after eight years. She has 6 brothers, all of whom have beards!!

Loved her first meeting with Drew. Yes, we do regress to our teenage years when we interact with our siblings. I know.
Loved her friends. There was an interaction in the kitchen with two of her friends and I swear I was nearly pissing in my knickers at their carry on.

“In that moment, I finally figured out what kind of handsome he was. He was fiction-handsome. Romance novel handsome;...more

I'm so sad it's over! Let the book hangover begin. I love these characters. OMG, Drew's letters and poems to her? Gah!!! <3

Beauty and the Mustache (Kitting in the City Book 4)
By Penny Reid
So, if you follow me, you know I'm a Knitting in the City series LUVA! Penny Reid rocks my neurons with her smart and witty humor. Beauty and the Mustache is no exception to my love of these books.
I will FOREVER be a Janie and Quinn fangirl to the umpteenth power.

However, Ashley Winston has a special place in my heart. From the first book, I've loved her southern – borderline redneck – attitude. Now to get into her head and li ...more

I very rarely give 5 stars to a book (I also hate to write reviews) but this book is really special. I will admit that I started "Beauty and the Mustache" with a little trepidation. The author Penny Reid kept warning readers on her Facebook page this was not like her other books in the series, which I really enjoyed. She's right it's not. Some how this book is more. This book and these characters are greater than the sum of their parts. Janie and Quinn are still my favorite characters in the ser

Re-read September 2019
After reading Beard with Me (BwM), I felt the need to read the Winston Family books again with the new insight that BwM provides. Both BwM and Beauty and the Mustache are beautifully sad. This book though adds some humor and romance to help balance the sadness. It's one of my favorites. My review below still stands.

I love Penny Reid! At first I was in awe of her writing, of her character development, the ability to make you fall in love with & desperately want to become friends with her characters. But I felt she lacked some of the passion & sexual aspects I like to read about - I was wrong. These last two books had everything wrapped up in a beautifully written package! Ashley runs back to Tennessee to take care of her terminally ill mother, faced with her six houligan brothers who used to torment her. Sh

I love this whole series. I have read them all back to back. Normally when I do this with a series the quality goes down because all the stories tend to have a lot of similarities. That isn't happening here. Each book has it's own unique story line with characters that all have very different personalities. I never knew where each book was going and I loved that it was a surprise. Each book just keeps getting better and better.
