This is perhaps the place I admit I never finished this book.
In one of the great bone-headed moves of my life, I attempted to read Moby Dick and War and Peace at the same time. Doh! I never finished either. At some point, I need to return to both of them. There was a lot to love, but I had just finished college and was a little overwhelmed.

I actually never read this book in high school so I wanted to be able to say I had read it. It was a challenge at times to get through the lengthy and verbose explanations about whales and the whale hunting trade. However, by halfway through, I was starting to really understand more of it. I'd probably have to go back and read it again to really understand the whale hunting trade 100% but don't think that will happen anytime soon.

Amazing in places, wooden in others. Ishmael is the ultimate unreliable narrator. Fast becoming one of my desert island reads and definitely one that I'll come back to again and again.
