I would never have picked this book up if not for trailers for the tv show. I found it to be pretty meh. The writing is very simple, not a hard word to be found. Short, choppy direct sentences. The characters are wooden the plot the only thing worth hanging in there for. I honestly pushed myself to finish it just to figure out how Crouch was going to end it. And, okay, pretty decent ending. I kind of wish the "ending" was the beginning of the book and that it went from there.

After seeing the trailer for the show Wayward Pines and finding out the very creepy looking show was based on a book, I was compelled to read it. The subtle creeping horror hinted at in the trailer is alive and well in the book. Ethan Burke wakes up in the perfect small town of Wayward Pines, with massive injuries and a fuzzy memory. Week 32 of the 2015 Reading Challenge - Book 1 in a Trilogy.
This was a very fast read and a good one. I have not seen the TV series but cannot wait to read Book 2!

This is my summary of Wayward Pines. I listened to the audiobook, so I'm not sure how my impressions might have been different had I read it. It was definitely interesting, and at times I couldn't pull myself away. I'm curious about the next two books and I'll probably read or listen to them, I just wish this one hadn't been quite so anti-climatic. ...more
