This is an incredibly thoughtful and detailed account of the events that took place on April 20th, 1999. Cullen did a lot of research for this (10 years worth), and it shows. The stories of the victims, families, and perpetrators were all shared with compassion and with a sincere attempt at understanding. Fascinating in such a devastating way. Dave Cullen certainly did a TON of research. I also loved how the book was not necessarily chronological but still flowed well. It kept it interesting.

When I told Jennifer that I was reading this book, she asked "Why?", and the truth is, I asked myself that same thing a few times. Not because I didn't like the book, but because of the harshness of the subject matter. However, I feel like this book does a very good job of trying to portray a horrific event accurately and as unemotionally as possible, which is no small task given the event in question. Brilliant and needed book that clarifies and corrects much information about a terrible tragedy. The narrative style and top-notch research made this book one with a forever-place on my shelf. Fantastic.
