I was utterly intrigued by the synopis. How can a touch of a girl be fatal?? I should say I was totally let down. Let me say that I couldn't get past half the book. I usually do not give up on books, but if I do I read a good chunk of the book before deciding to give up. This book was really really terrible. Like one of those books that I simply can't visualize the process it must have gone through, getting approved for publication by one person after another.

It is about a 17 year old girl with a strange power that makes contact with her skin painful and potentially lethal to others. Yup. I was good with it for the first half. But the complete lack of world development, repetitive writing and excessive amount of metaphors got to me. This is a romance. That's all there is to it. Not worth it. ...more

At first I wasn't too sure about this book. The writing style was different and it took some getting used to. After a few chapters I was hooked. Tahereh Mafi is wonderful. I love the voice she gives to Juliette. I enjoyed the repetition, crossing out thoughts, and the imagery.

The ending was a little flat for me. I felt like watching a fire die out. The ending is important to the story but it was just meh... I think that is why I can't give this book 5 stars. Other than that I LOVED the characte ...more
