Can I give this book 5 more stars, and then an additional 5 more after that?!
I felt every single human emotion course through my body at least once while reading this book. Honestly. The main one being anxiety. I know about books being suspenseful, but this took it to a whole new level. Once this story got going, which did not take long, I was sucked in. I mean that. I almost called out of work multiple times because I wanted to read!

Didn't think this would be a book that I'd like, but surprise, I loved it! I did listen to it though on audio and I think that made a big difference. The narrator was awesome and really pulled off the comical side of the book. Yes, there was a lot of scientific and mathematical NASA-type jargon and detail but that made for the realism of the story. I listen to my books at 1.25 speed so although these parts could be tedious, the narrator went over them so quickly that it was fine and didn't weigh

This was a fun fun book. An astronaut stuck on Mars, after a mission went wrong and after presumed dead by his crew members and NASA. There's terrible spookiness in the fact that now Mark Watney is the only human being on Mars and the furthest human being from the safety and comfort of Earth. ALONE. Alone on a hostile planet. Being absolutely terrified of that kind of loneliness myself, the book did it for me totally. Other than that, Mark Watney is an ultimate geek and seems to have a solution

This was definitely a really good book. I saw it recommended so many times on Reddit, so I was happy when Amazon had the Kindle edition available at a good price. The human element of the story is just terrific. And based on what the Redditors had to say, the science was awesome too. I found myself having to skim over parts of it that I just don't have the education to grok, so that's what kept it from being 5 stars for me. My rating is based on my own personal enjoyment, rather than the actual

I'm not usually a Science Fiction reader; however, I enjoyed the suspenseful, cleverly written novel of Andy Weir. Cheering for Watney the whole way, I was engulfed in the plot and communications with NASA rounded the believability of the story.
