Shelves: romance, historical-fiction, lit-fic

A very enjoyable and engrossing read. My only disappointment was that I found Marlena, the main female character, somewhat shallow. She has two men falling over themselves for her, but other than the fact she's apparently a natural with horses you never learn anything about her. A shame when Gruen manages to give the villain depth. Still, a book worth checking out. ...more

I'm not sure why it took me so long to finish this book. In the end, it was fantastic! Jacob was a great character and I really enjoyed how we meet him in the present and he keeps remembering the past. Switching back and forth kept my attention. I absolutely LOVED the ending! I'm not sure what I was expecting but certainly not what happened. I would recommend this book for sure. It's excellent. ...more
