Despite some reservations I had, I honestly couldn't put this book down. I started it late last night with the intention of reading half of it, and finished it about 4:30 this morning.

So here's what I liked about the book: the pace. It started off a little slow, but in a good way. I'm going to say that reading this series at the same time as the Red Queen series (by Victoria Aveyard) is not particularly wise, if your goal is to keep the stories and series straight and clear. Because I've been reading this book at the same time as Red Queen, and because both series have Reds, and both sets of Reds are the downtrodden race of folks. Goodness. So it's not entirely fair, my review, because of the mixture, but I think I've got a grip on the series.

This book was really tough for me. I had a hard time staying interested and skimmed most of the first half. The second have was better and found myself wanting to finish it.
