This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I guess I prefer Tris' Chicago when there is a greater focus on one of the factions and not all of them. I found the emphasis on who belongs in what faction and "oh today you're being such a Stiff" jibing really distracting. And it also didn't make much sense to me that EVERYONE should fit in one of these five very narrow factions. Roth's storytelling is magic. There is zero recap in this story, so as it has been a year since I read Divergent I was a little lost. Three chapters in, I felt like I was right back in the thick of things. The action never stops in this installment, but along the way we really get to experience the other factions, fall in love with Tobias (cause, we already LOVE Four) and we watch Tris grow even more kick ass. I had trouble getting back into the series, since I read the first one a year ago. I managed to remember a lot about the world as I was reading, but still had difficulty with individual minor characters. I liked the story, and will definite read the next (final?) book in the series.

Shelves: 2014, genre-young-adult, list-if-you-liked-hunger-games

Enjoying the trilogy & looking forward to the next, final, book in the series. I had trouble with remembering some of the characters at first and which faction they came from and currently belonged to, as well as who they held close loyalties to (family/friends), but the author reminds you as the action unfolds. Still a lot of action and much more movement than the first book.

I enjoyed Insurgent as much as Divergent. The story is fun, it has a lot of action, some good twists, and the two main characters are great. I really enjoy this series and can't believe I have to wait until 2013 to find out how it ends. ...more
