I liked the perspective the story took. It was an interesting perspective to have the murder victim narrate her own story. I enjoyed the first half of the book, but the second half of the book seemed to lose its way. I didn't like Susie making contact with Ray Singh at the end of the story. It seemed very out of place. If the author would have contained the story to the murder and the family dynamics around the murder, the story would have been more compelling for me.

I found this quite boring. The subject made it hard to keep interested. Plus a few of the events are quite unbelievable. The heaven depicted in this novel makes me not want to go there. Side note: the audiobook I listened to was read my Sebold herself. I was expecting a more entertaining reading but she kept an almost complete monotone through the entire reading.

This is a very emotional story for me. So far, it is well written and flows well. I have only been able to reach page 38 out of 328. I am going to have to return to this book during the spring or summer when the skies don't get me down along with the character's suffering.
