As a historical fiction lover, I cannot believe I let this sit unread on my shelf for so long. This book is one emotional ride, and Kristin Hannah captures the experience of two women during WWII in such an incredible way. I love the way this book highlights that there are so many different kinds of strength, specifically female strength, that aren't always apparent, but are nonetheless important in their own ways. I will definitely be reading more from Kristin Hannah. Highly recommended this book! It has sister relationships, women friendships, love, war, and some very good plot twists. The themes on this.novel are very important and thought-provoking about World War II. Read it for the strong fearless warrior women.

She gets better as the book goes along, but it took longer than I liked for her to become a stronger female character in a book that’s chock full of strong female characters. That is one thing I loved about this story; it’s very cente ...more
