First off the cover of this book is amaze balls! I just freaking love it! ❤

Many gods and goddesses are named in Norse mythology. You will meet quite a few of them in these pages. Most of the stories we have, however, concern two gods, Odin and his son Thor, and Odin's blood brother, a giant's son called Loki, who lives with the Aesir in Asgard.

I have always wanted to read a good book on Norse Mythology and I think Neil Gaiman did a great job explaining some things before the stories.

I thought this was a novel for some reason, but it really is just a mythology- a collection of myths. Most of these stories are as ridiculous as you'd hope a Norse myth would be. At the same time, so many of the stories are really just pissing contests between the gods and giants, or accounts of self-fulfilling prophecies. The absurdity gets a bit redundant.

If I was a different kind of reader, I think I would have liked to have a print copy of this so I could have read one story here and there.

This is yet another, in a long line of, reviews that have disappeared from my Goodreads account. I won't try to recreate what I wrote because my feelings were fresh and they are no longer so, but I do want to point something out.

I read this upon release and was in no way impressed. I found it dull and dry and it certainly didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. Then I saw Gaiman speak at an event. He read one of the stories aloud and I was mesmerized! He read it irreverently, with humor a

I wanted to love this. I really did. I am in the middle of listening to American Gods, anniversary edition, which is somehow better than the original, and thought it would be great to learn more about Mr. Wednesday (Odin), Loki and all the others in Gaiman's lovely voice. Not so much.

One of Gaiman's charms is the way he is able to take something fantastical and unbelievable and describe it in such a way that as you read/listen, it is very real. It may lose that reality as soon as you set aside t

I don't know if I'm just not in the mood for this or what? I will step away and come back to it later.
My 10 year old is loving it though. She's an advanced reader and this seems right up her alley right now.
