The best new comics series I have come across in a long, long time!!!! Art is wonderful, the sci-fi feel + magic in it, the perfect balance! The plot, in love with it already! It is a battle of galactic proportions between creatures with wings, ( in my mind I call them the angels), and creatures with horns ( you guessed it, I think of them as demons). I don't normally read graphic novels but I was in the mood for something different and the Saga series came highly recommended by several friends so I took a chance on it. Let me just say it was so amazingly good that by the time I was 3 chapters in I had purchased the rest of the series!

That was just so good. I didn’t know what to expect going in, but it wasn’t this. Part family drama and part science fantasy adventure, Saga is both epic and emotionally-charged. The love between Alana and Marko shines through in the pages, and the secondary characters are also really interesting. The writing is top-notch and the artwork is high quality.

This is one of the most beautiful books I've ever had my hands on. The artwork is gorgeous, the writing is gorgeous, the cover is gorgeous. The characters were more deeply developed than I thought could they could be in only 160 pages. I'm not sure I've ever sat down and actually read an entire book in one sitting, so this is probably the first.

Science fiction and fantasy meld into an amazing adventure. You are dropped into this story running,and you breathlessly scramble to catch up.
Loved everything about it. The storytelling....amazing,the illustrations...visually beautiful,the world building....spectacular.

A friend lent this to me and its got me hooked. I will be not only purchasing a copy of my own but the rest of the series as well. Intense right from the beginning and containing a host of quite interesting characters this first volume has left me itching to dive even deeper. Especially with the cliffhanger-ish (and hilarious inn my opinion) end.

Ho aspettato tanto prima di comprare questa graphic novel e non perché non mi fossi completamente innamorata della sua copertina e della trama: due soldati appartenenti a due pianeti diversi in guerra, si innamorano, si sposano, concepiscono una bambina e lottano (letteralmente) contro tutto e tutti, pur di farla nascere e sopravvivere.
In una galassia in guerra da sempre, un'unione del genere non passa inosservata e sono in tanti quelli che vorrebbero uccidere Marko ed Alana e catturare la picco Ho aspettato tanto prima di comprare questa graphic novel e non perché non mi fossi completamente innamorata della sua copertina e della trama: due soldati appartenenti a due pianeti diversi in guerra, si innamorano, si sposano, concepiscono una bambina e lottano (letteralmente) contro tutto e tutti, pur di farla nascere e sopravvivere.
In una galassia in guerra da sempre, un'unione del genere non passa inosservata e sono in tanti quelli che vorrebbero uccidere Marko ed Alana e catturare la piccola Hazel.
Come dicevo, ho aspettato tanto, e il motivo è che dopo una quindicina d'anni di fedeltà totale ai manga, questo è il primo fumetto americano che compro e leggo. Che cosa mi sono persa, in tutti questi anni!
Il primo volume di Saga è incredibilmente bello, i personaggi sono originali e interessanti, i disegni stupendi e verosimili e i dialoghi divertenti ed emozionanti.
E' Hazel che narra di come sia nata e di come i suoi genitori abbiano vissuto nella sua prima settimana di vita.
In soli sei capitoli, infatti, Marko e Alana devono metterla al sicuro dai loro stessi simili, da mercenari senza scrupoli (in realtà ce n'è uno che immagino svolgerà un ruolo ben più importante del semplice mercenario pazzo ) da un principe metà umano e metà robot che vorrebbe solamente passare il suo tempo a procreare con la sua principessa e che scopre di avere un debole per i romanzi rosa, da dei bambini fantasma e dall'ambiente inospitale di un pianeta che non vede altro che guerre da troppo tempo.
Ho apprezzato moltissimo lo sviluppo della trama, dalla prima pagina in cui un'Alana di profilo e in primo piano, si domanda e domanda al suo Marko se stia (passatemi il termine, perché è la traduzione letterale del verbo) cacando o partorendo, che invece di sentire dolore, prova piacere durante il parto (sarebbe davvero stupendo se fosse possibile, grazie Brian K. Vaughan per averci fatto questo regalo, seppur in un universo di fantasia) a quando la piccola Hazel fa la sua prima risata.
Sono conquistata, i mesi che mi separano dal secondo volume mi sembreranno un'eternità.
Consiglio Saga a chi non dispiacciono graphic novel con tematiche adulte, linguaggio forte e scene di violenza e sesso, ma anche con amore, spirito di sacrificio, speranza e, soprattutto, disegni maledettamente belli! ...more
