He wept and wanted to die but he hadn’t died and the next day he had gone back to work.
Constant, agonizing, relentless, brutal. Nihilistic but in my opinion some of King’s best. You don’t really see balanced cruelty like this in horror fiction these days - the closest I can think of is from Agustina Bazterrica, but even then, killing puppies feels pedestrian in comparison to everything going on here

I thought the book started out very slow, but all the pieces were being put together, for the heart wrenching end to this book. I couldn't put it down after two third of the book. Definite horror behind this one.
