What Members Thought

I can't not rate this book with 5 stars. Although I have some reservations having read it so many years later - I used to love Heathcliff's presence, but in the years since I've seen my fair share of moody, broody, nasty men and I don't think I could stand to be around him.

Wuthering Heights, wild and desolate, full of eerie winds, mysterious passions and ancient resentments. Heathcliff and Catherine a love so wild and turbulent. Bronte was ahead of her time spinning a tale of unspeakable violence and horror almost diabolical. True to its gothic genre with ghostly passions and a man so consumed by love, jealousy and revenge. If he can't have her than none can! Heathcliff is on a path of destruction. Not even his own son is safe from his wrath. Definitely not a chee

I am not sure I can review this book. It is beyond a doubt one of my favorites. Don't get me wrong, Heathcliff and Cathy are horrible. The way they interact and treat one another is horrible. This is not a love story. Cathy is selfish, petty, haughty. Heathcliff is abusive and vengeful. The pair of them are not satisfied with torturing each other, they drag everyone around them, including their children, into the bleakness they create.

I read this in high school and did not care for it.... now many years later I enjoyed it a lot. Heathcliffe is an interesting character, that you hate but almost understand him. to me it's a pretty twisted love story at best.
