What Members Thought

I think I liked Snow Crash a little more than this one for the whole VR thing. This one was good (I kept thinking it would turn into Ender’s Game!) however, the narrative keeps the pace up and the characters are all engaging. It does pump up the adrenaline like the Hunger Games books so I am surprised it isn’t classified as Young Adult sci-fi. Definitely a modern classic although it didn’t even place on the Hugo runners up in 2011 (Connie Willis’ Blackout/All Clear) was a better choice anyway).

I listened to this on audible and and, wow, what a most excellent ride it was!!
At over 17 hours long, narrator Will Wheaton did a hell of an enthralling job and, as an Eighties film-buff teen myself, I can hardly wait to see where Spielberg goes with his adaptation! (please, God, let it be faithful to the book!)

I really loved the ending. I believe it was a very hard novel to wrap up, the way Cline did it was amazing. Loved the whole book. This was one of my first "hard" sci-fi books, for some parts it was a lot but the way Cline wrote it, he didn't go on and on about the certain type of technology. If you are interested in writing a book with a heavy theme of future tech, this is the book to read. Thank you for the read, Cline! Amazing work. Ernest ClineReady Player One
