OK- so the first chapter of this book IS OFF THE HOOK. That ending *chef’s kiss* — but then meh— nothing too memorable.

Update: 4/25: have I read just listened to the audiobook for this a second time after physically reading it? Yes. Did it hit me just as hard as the first and second time? You betcha.

This will definitely be a reread for me in the future. I was swept away in the setting, plot and romance of this story.
I love the style of writing: vividly descriptive while being easy to read. Layers upon layers of character depth unravel into a nail biting plot. I binged this in a little over a day and would gladly do so again. My only disappointment is there were no surprising plot twists.
Warning: quite a bit of battle violence (PG-13) and one explicit sex scene (X)

Is it possible to give a book more than 5 stars? THIS WAS AMAZING!!! I loved it and can’t wait to read the next one!
Woah. Slow down. What did I just read? The minute I finished and I closed the cover I had to take several minutes to just sit their in silence thinking about it. Going into this book, I was not expecting that at all. It surprised me in the most amazing way possible. I LOVED IT. So much happened I have no doubt I’ll be reading it again very soon. My first Danielle L. Jensen book and I think I may be in love with the author's writing.
This book was so good!
I absolutely loved the world this book was set in.
Lara is AWESOME and I dont think I have been so totally on board with a charater from the word go ever before.
Also I have discovered Im a total sucker for the enemies to lovers trope.

I loved this book so much. I’m so invested in the characters and fell in love so quickly. The emotional roller coaster at the end of the book has left me so empty knowing I have to wait for the next book. I 👏🏻 NEED 👏🏻 IT 👏🏻 NOW! Honestly can’t wait for book #2 and to be completely wrapped up in this story again.
