What Members Thought

A wonderful story on the meaning of friendship set in rural Mississippi. So many factors and themes are presented in this mystery surrounding the death of a young woman from many years ago. When another girl is missing, old feelings re-emerge regarding the main suspect in the prior case. Franklin writes very well about issues of family, racism and taking responsibility, as well as friendship.

There is so much to talk about here that I'm glad we are reading this for a book club. Mystery, drama, race relations in the deep south, flashbacks, whodunnit. I may not have picked it up if it weren't for a book club, but I'm glad I did. Nicely written with well developed characters. It took me a few chapters to get into it, so keep going!
