Oh, how this book disappointed me! It started off so well with compelling characters, an interesting premise, and the promise of a twisty, juicy mystery. Then, somewhere around the half-way mark, it completely devolved into a badly edited, overwritten, completely nonsensical mess, not even worthy of a LIfetime movie treatment. Next!

Carve out some extra time for this wildly compulsive read! Hawkins is a wonderful author whose unreliable narrators will have you guessing whodunit to the very end. I couldn't put this novel down for long. Written in the vain of Gone Girl, this book is destined to be talked about by everyone in the coming months. I will definitely read Hawkins again.

I know I am in the minority with this review. 85%+ of this book was exquisitely written. If the last 15% hadn’t taken such a turn south, this would be the type of book that I would be recommending to strangers. It is like a different writer wrote the last portion of the book as it was cheesy and such a disappointment. So sad when it had so much potential.

I wonder if I am the only person in the world that didn't fall head over heels in love with this book. Though it was an interesting twister, it became clear about 60 percent who had committed the crime.

Every day Rachel rides the commuter train from the suburbs into the city. Along the way the passes the street where she used to live with her now ex-husband Tom. Anna now lives in that house with Tom. As she rides the train Rachel can't help but gaze at her old street. If she is not staring at her old house, she is staring at another a few doors down where the cute couple she has nicknamed Jess and Jason live. Rachel likes to imagine their idyllic life.

Found it overall to be pretty predictable. I just think Gone Girl did the whole "unreliable narrator" psychological thriller novel better.

Faced paced fun listen. I was not able to decide who had "done it" until the end of the book. Definitely worth a listen.
