This is the kind of book with a plucky young heroine that I would love my daughter to read one day.

I didn't have high expectations for this, but Pratchett surprised me in the end, as he often does, by getting to that 'good' sort of serious that I so enjoy in his books. I think this one has a little more of that than most of recent Pratchett, or perhaps it spoke to me more.
