An utterly charming and magical read!
A very inventive fantasy. Is TJ Klune British? Because this book has a very Monty Python or Harry Potter feel to it. It also at one point reminded me of a scene in The Producers.
This is a book with diversity and outcast characters learning to embrace their identity (whatever that is). I really loved it. (Could it be a film, please? Maybe a musical?) I really recommend this book. It's great fun. ...more

Absolutely amazing story. It does start slow with introducing Linus and eventually getting him to the island but once there so much happens. The children are all such unique characters. I loved the female gnome with a beard and Quincy - a green blob who aspires to be a Bellhop and who will tell you the entire history of Bellhops back to 1897!
