I really enjoyed Camila and Warren's story!! I just love sports romance and this one was great! It did take me a bit to warm up to Camila but once I did, I devoured the pages. This one was low on angst and pretty steamy... Warren and Camila were hot!! The professional soccer player storyline was my favorite part!! ...more

Claire Contreras is just one of those authors that are automatic for me! She is not only an amazing author but if you stalk, errrr follow her you know that she is also such an amazing person. She has gone through more than most and comes out swinging. Her determination and drive truly make her an inspiration. If you have not discovered her past releases, go now and stalk her! They are all amazing reads! But let's talk about The Player! Awh... how I loved me some Warren Silva! What is not to love Claire Contreras is just one of those authors that are automatic for me! Awh... how I loved me some Warren Silva! What is not to love about a sexy athlete at the top of their game? Sports Romances are one of my favorite sub genres to read and this was a sexy one that I just loved! I devoured the story sneaking in a read whenever I got a free second! Definitely pick up this 5 star read! You will not be disappointed.

Camila has to work hard for everything she has. At one point in her life, her family was part of the upper elite until her father was arrested and their lives were forever changed. Because of this she has seen both sides of the City. She never felt like she fit in with the upper elite and made a decision to work for those less privileged. She works for high risk inner city youth to make sure they stay on the right track. The center provides a place for them so they are not out on the streets. She also lives in the area she works for and now it's currently under siege by a high end developer looking to "upgrade" the community but instead of enriching their community, they fear it will leave it in ruin.

Warren Silva is at the top of his career as a soccer player. He is regarded as the most eligible bachelor and is known for having girls in every city. Not only is he an athlete but a business man. He is part of a neighbored development program that will look to better the community. But to his surprise not everyone is on board. When a meeting is called to review, he is taken by the feisty women who is leading the opposition. What intrigues him more is that she is clueless who he is. He is one of the most recognizable person in the world and she is oblivious to him. He is fascinated and intrigued by her. He is determined to get her to go on a date with him. When she rejects him, it only makes him that much more committed to see more than just the world class athlete.

I just loved Warren and Camila's chemistry! They say opposites attract and for Warren having his mind made up that Camila would go on a date with him, Camila is just as stubborn and keeps refusing his advances. Right when it looks like they will ride off into the sunset, something from Warren's past is exposed and it is something Camila cannot move past. She is devastated that he kept this from her. Can Warren win her back or is too much damage already done? This is one that you NEED to read to find out!!

2016 seems like it's been the year for sports roms. If I went back and looked, I'd bet the majority of my reading challenge consists of books of this genre. While I tend to lean towards my favorites (I'm sure most of us do), I've also branched out and read other sports if they looked good. I've read hockey, baseball, football (American), and now soccer (the other football).

I'll start out by saying soccer players are no less sexy than other sports players. Not Warren, anyway. He's got all those 2016 seems like it's been the year for sports roms. I'll start out by saying soccer players are no less sexy than other sports players. Not Warren, anyway. He's got all those things you love about a bad a$$ sports hottie--a body, tats, confidence, sexual expertise--and all the things you hate about one--crazy ex, snobby associates, over-inflated ego, player baggage (on and off the field). I usually have a lust/punch-in-the-face relationship with these characters, and Warren was no different in that aspect either.

Camila was unusual to me in that she was a very transparent character. What you saw was what you got, and she was very honest. She was a strong, independent woman who held tight to her values and fought for what she believed in. She was real, with herself and with everyone around her, which is an admirable trait. And she brought out the best traits in Warren.

There were some instances where the writing/wording confused me. There were also many instances of wrong words, along with a few verb tense switches. They were small things--worst in place of worse, me in place of my, etc--and though they didn't take away my enjoyment in reading this book, they were sometimes distracting and even warranted a re-read of the sentence for clarity. That being said, unless you're a grammar nazi who only reads perfection, you should be able to overlook those easily. I wouldn't suggest skipping out on the book based on this alone because it is a very enjoyable read.

In all, I really liked this book. It had its sweet moments, its hot moments, its hard moments, its corny moments. But then, a story is all about the moments, the good and the bad. We keep reading, chasing those moments that make us feel something.

This is the first book I've read by this author, and I plan to read more of her work. ...more

Loved this book . Have you ever read a book and when you finish you wonder why haven't I read more of her books . Well I just said that to myself .
