Well well I’ve been wanting to read this books since 2016, but never got around on doing it. So many new releases. The covers are gorgeous and the synopsis was interesting, and if I needed any other reason the book is a space opera. I love scifi.

The story reminds me of the Titanic: The Movie. Our main characters are from a different stratum, but find themselves interested in each other, then tragedy struck and the ship (Space Liner) sank metaphorically speaking… The only two survivors Lilac LaRo Well well I’ve been wanting to read this books since 2016, but never got around on doing it. Thankfully they crashed in a terraformed planet to survive they will have to help each other until help shows up.
I honestly went into this book without expecting the plot to be something epic, but I was too quick to judge the story. It was really good, far better than what I was expecting. Although I don’t consider the book to have a heavy world building she does mention something about society structure and the terraforming process, nothing out of this world.

The plot might not be full of amazing interspace battles, but there was something that kept me at the edge of my seat. There was an air of mystery and paranormal that I’m not gonna lie, got my “full size aortic pump” racing for dear life. Seriously at the beginning I was worried thinking “She is going mad, too much stress, she is not trained for all of it, she is going to lose it” and when more weird stuff started to happen and I was “Please don’t tell there are ghosts on this book, and they’re about to be hunted”. At the end we find out what were they, I was still a little crept out by them.

When it comes to romance I usually complain if a relationship develops quickly and even though that happens on this book, but I'm not even a little bothered by it. They are sharing a traumatic experience, even studies back up the fact that people can fall in love rapidly in extreme situations… why am I rambling about it, trying to prove my point? Anyway I loved them together. There was a point I believed that this was going to end like a Shakespeare tragedy, but I’m so glad it ended up in sort of a good note for them.

I think it was really entertaining also, having the bits of the interrogation they are doing with Mayor Taver, because you get the confirmation that they were rescued. Also funny how we get to read the lies he is giving the other officers and then we get the story of what really happened. I really enjoyed this format.

It’s sad that the series are just one shots of three different love stories. I kinda feel weary that the other stories will be not as good as this one… I'm probably been a bit dramatic, I hope we get some sort of cameo lol I don't see myself rereading this book, but will definitely recommend to my family and friends.

These Broken Stars started with two of the things I love most in this life - stars and books, both of which were not further developed, although in the begging described as 'the only real thing'.

This was an utterly chaotic book, things randomly thrown into the story all of the time that never underwent any kind of expansion. Nothing tied as much as I would have wanted it to, at places everything was a bit rushed and at times I found myself going back and re-reading certain parts, searching for a These Broken Stars started with two of the things I love most in this life - stars and books, both of which were not further developed, although in the begging described as 'the only real thing'.

Nothing tied as much as I would have wanted it to, at places everything was a bit rushed and at times I found myself going back and re-reading certain parts, searching for an explanation which should have been there but never actually was.

All of the theories of the main characters were scattered around, especially Lilac's character who was always holding her own, so stubborn to the point of stupidity.

The writing style was dull in the fist part of the book and got even worse towards the end. It wasn't anything spectacular or utterly brilliant or even different from what I've read before. The book was written in chapters, each one written in a different POV, hence the two authors, and I reckon that's a big part of why things were so disorganised which lead me to think that not so much thought was put into it.

Many of the stuff mentioned were left hanging into the air and we never got answers to many of the questions. And you would say: "But you may receive answers in the next part, it's a trilogy after all."
Yeah. But no. There is no Lilac or Tarver in the next part, This Shattered World. Maybe I will read the novella which comes out in October. Maybe.

“You don't mention death when it's hovering near someone you love.”

I didn't really feel the tragic 'love' (if you can call it love, they only spent 2 weeks together!), which was impossible under any other circumstances and was not convincingly written.

It never turned into a battle for survival, heck there were no battles whatsoever, just two teenagers running around scavenging supplies from their newly crashed spaceship with hundreds of thousands of victims in it.

I am really disappointed after how much this book was hyped about but I agree with one thing - you either love it or you hate it. ...more

So I just finished this, and I am IN LOVE! I'm not often a big fan of the Sci-Fi, not for any particular reason, apart from not getting into them for any particular reason. I'm more Fantasy-prone. I love The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, and after hearing so much about These Broken Stars, I decided to go for it! And my gawd! The cover is B-E-A-UTIFUL!

Best Sci-fi I read in a long time!! I didn't want them to be rescued anymore. That planet with the mirror moon had become like a home. Where Tarver and Lilac can be together without anyone saying they can't. It was Amazing!! xD ...more
