First off I want to thank Lindsey and Sara for talking about this book so much and for getting me interested in reading more High Fantasy books, This is definitely a book that I would have never thought of picking up before and I am so glad that I did!

Wow. What an incredible novel. Probably one of the best crafted stories/worlds I've ever read. Brandon Sanderson is an amazing writer.

What makes The Final Empire such an incredible novel is the writing. It's accessible and doesn't feel dense like other fantasy novels. Sanderson's dialogue is believable and not over written. His ability to drop subtle hints and foreshadowing is beautifully woven throughout the text.

well that was just amazing!! Possibly the best book I've read all year, definitely the best fantasy book.
Oh my gosh I'm so sorry this review took me so long, I completely forgot that I hadn't done it yet! I was so worried that I wouldn't like it because of all the hype, but I looooved it. Seriously so good my friends, so good. This review will probably have nothing negative in it, so sorry if you were looking for that lol. But I will be telling you all the wonderful things about it, so read on! well that was just amazing!! Possibly the best book I've read all year, definitely the best fantasy book.

Plot- This plot is so rich, like the most chocolatey-chocolate cake you can find, in the best way possible. At the beginning you think it's going to start off simple, just another fantasy thieving crew trying to overthrow the corrupt government, but I promise you it's so much more than that. I don't want to say too much because it's really quite magical (pun intended) to figure it out all on your own. There's a lot of political intruige, but it's not without action too, because you'll definitely get your fill. There's scheming, and plans, and fights, and balls, and it's just wonderful. There was also one big plot twist that I did not see coming at all, and it's rare a book throws me off guard as much as this one did. Also, there was great messages about friendship, and blurring the lines between good and evil.

Worldbuilding/Magic- Okay, I just had to make this its own little section here, because it was just amazing. Sanderson somehow slips in enough information so you slowly get more and more familiar with the world, but it's never so in-your-face that you feel like it's info-dumping. I'm so excited to learn more about this world in the coming books, because I just know we've only scratched the surface so far. The background to the world is really fascinating, and I love all of the different types of people within it. Now, the magic, just blew me away. It was so incredibly unique, and so well done. The way he described using the magic, and the way he manipulated seemingly simple powers was fantastic. You can just really tell how much thought he's put into this, and it shows.

Writing- I'll be honest, when I go into a fantasy book, I"m usually not too concerned with the writing, I'm more concerned with plot, and then characters. Sanderson has the perfect writing for fantasy, it's not too "flowery", but it's still written very, very well. He utilizes great descriptions, and imagery, everytime described the mist I could just picture it floating and settling around me. His action scenes were very well done as well, I could just clearly picture every move a character would make. Going along with that, he manages to describe a very complex magic system in a way that is very clear, and easy to understand. Sometimes in fantasy I have an issue with the way dialogue is written, but the dialogue in this feels so natural, and there's a lot of funny lines that characters have that I wasn't expecting.

Characters- I'll let you guess what I'm going to say about the characters: they were amazing. There's way too many to talk about individually, but they were all great. They all were so unique without trying too hard, and it just seemed effortless, and they were all so fleshed out. I fell in love with all of these characters, and I can honestly say I connected and was attached to every single one. Specifically though, Vin, as a protagonist, was great. I loved seeing her develop, and become true to herself, and struggle with learning that you can have friends in the dark world she lives in. She was so kick-ass, and I loved how Sanderson portrayed a strong female character who was a badass fighter and who loved getting dressed up and going to balls. I feel like nowadays if a "strong" female character likes something "girly" she gets criticized for it, and in this book Vin is great in realizing that she can be both. Also, Keliser man. He went through great character development too, but I won't go into all of that. I'm just so excited to get back with these characters very soon.

Overall- Okay if it's not obvious, then you probably didn't read the whole review but this is definitely one of my favorite books, and my number one fantasy. I highly recommend anyone who likes fantasy to read it, and I'm so mad at myself for being too big of a coward to pick it up. It did take me awhile to read, but I had a lot going on with school, and I wanted to read it all the time. I'm definitely going to continue with this series very soon, and I just have a feeling it's going to get even more epic.

Did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did. The way this story was told was so engaging and exceptionally well done. Thoroughly enjoyed it, completely devoured it. Straight onto the next one.
