This was a ridiculously fun book! A satire/lampoon of so many things it was hard to keep track (but I tried): beauty pageants, gender roles, commercialism, marketing, government corruption, etc. etc. etc.

While geared toward the YA crowd, I think the tongue-in-cheek cynicism is something that can be appreciated by anyone who enjoys smart, sarcastic humor. Bray makes a lot of really great points through a story that could easily be dismisse ...more

Enter, a plane crash leaving a few teenage beauty queens with zero survival skills alone on an uncharted island. While they still hold out that someone would come save them, they continue to practice for the the contest. However, the mystery lights at night, and a cast of pirates washing up ashore, things might not be what they seem.
I enjoy Libba Bray, and her whit which does not fail in this satire. However, there were some things that were a little repetitive in the book. How the book was form ...more
