Soooooooooo…. I have thoughts.
If you liked Hunger Games - you’ll like this.
If you liked Lord of the Flies - you’ll love this.
In a nutshell, I could not stop thinking about the similarities to these two books. A controlled trial of kill or be killed even with the higher ranks gifting bounties such as food, meds, etc (Hunger Games) and a complete collapse of society within these trials (LOTF) just made me feel like I wasn’t reading anything new.

I know a friend or two stated they had issues with the writing style, but I didn't. I thought the writing style fit very well for the type of novel it is.
It's extremely straight forward and choppy. Quite brutal scenes, that I enjoyed immensely. I enjoyed this one so much, there were certain paragraphs that I just immediately reread before proceeding.
It's a favorite of mine, because I know at some point I will reread this book, most likely entirety of the series if it continues the way it's star ...more
