This book was super cute but not something I would gravitate towards again. It’s about a caseworker who investigates orphanages of magical children. He gets assigned to a secret project of especially dangerous children, but ends up falling in love with all the kids and the caretaker.

I thought the book was charming, easy to read and had important themes of acceptance, kindness and bravery.

absolutely incredibly and heartwarming and heart wrenching. I’ve seen some reviews about how he co-opted a history that was not his to tell and I cannot speak on that but I did notice throughout it that there was a large commentary on social injustice and like many other books inspired by traumatic historical events (Harry Potter comes to mind) it told of injustice in a way that I hadn’t thought of before.
