Divergent (Divergent, #1) in Everything Nerdy and Anything in Between

This book was incredible - I savored each part, and I plan to read through it again for the parts I didn't catch in the first reading (the tiny details we skim over while in search of good characterization, smoldering, light, realistic, and smooth romance♥ ...and the drama, THE ACTION, THE IMAGERY!).

I found this to be a great collaboration between character centric and plot centric ideals... Ahhhhhhhhhh~ how can I explain a train ride that has evoked such feeling in many sittings between chores? I found this to be a great collaboration between character centric and plot centric ideals... Both the plot and the characters work so well that it's easy to be shown what's important (the plot elements♥) at the right time. I can't compare any other dystopias I've read beside or against this, but this is a great YA dystopia to be placed with other well known YA dystopias (such as, of the ones I've read, The Giver, The House of the Scorpion, um... and the latest that's in fashion, The Hunger Games).

...in fact, I hope, and want, to have it in my shelves with its siblings (please write faster, Ms. Roth! Write faster!).

The main characters as well as the surrounding bunch represent the futuristic Chicago very well. You can just see the jutting corners of what's acceptable from each faction, and what isn't, and that each character is an individual rather than, well, a cookie just pressed from the cookie cutter. The MC / Main Character who narrates the plot has and is a very good view on the subject matter / the dystopia. Weak and strong, she directs us through polar opposites (Abnegation's controlled view, and the liberal aspect of being Dauntless). Her characterization is amazing, both good and bad aspects (insecurities, thoughts, fears... dreams). It's all wonderful :3

The language itself is relatable, and well used. That is to say the imagery was... Well, similes, metaphors, and symbols aside, it's pleasant to read through the narrative :3 It is also clear and through to the point. So much that you do notice how Beatrice/Tris could be in Candor or Erudite. Go clarity (of figurative speech)!♥

As for the plot... wow, it had its surprising moments :D (which is good!)

And now I can't wait to read the next one xD Insurgent, isn't it?
