Ok, I think I've stopped screaming about this book and can kind of, sort of, possibly put forth semi-coherent thoughts about it. Maybe...This is probably not going to be a proper review, so much as a dumping of thoughts and feels.

*deep breath* Wow. It's been a little over 4 years since I started this series, but it feels, simultaneously, like it's been only four years and four long years, if you know what I mean. I can't believe it's over.

So, the photographs these books are so well known for are in abundance in this book. I think it might have more than the other two, but I haven't actually done a count or anything. As usual, those are great. Some are very creepy, some are a bit sad, some are confusing, and a few just look like ordinary photographs from family outings and such. I love the photographs in all of these books. They make the whole reading experience so much more engrossing, at least for me. Like, you turn the page and, "Hey, there's [character you just read something about]!" It's brilliant and I get a little swoony.

The characters were (for the most part) delightful. As usual, they were all written so well they could have leapt off the pages. I love that they all have flaws and weaknesses, and there are mixes of "good," "bad," and "somewhere-in-between" characters that don't fit into either category at all. There were times I wanted to scream at them to not do the thing, or to do something else, but I still love pretty much all of them. (view spoiler) I think Jacob grew a lot as a character in this book and it's a bit of a shame that there won't be more books that can explore what might happen with his ability (view spoiler) and him, in his regular life.

I liked and hated how the book ended. I had several moments of intense pride for my precious children and what they were doing, but (view spoiler). I wish there was something like a novella that's set in the future that lets us know how everyone is doing. Or a graphic novel, even. That would be cool. I just want more!

TL;DR: this is still one of my favorite series, even though I know it isn't perfect. The mix of history, horror, suspense, and fantasy is amazing and I love it. ...more

Something happened when I began reading the third installment in the "Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children" trilogy and I couldn't finish it, I couldn't get past the first 100 pages or so.

Considering the fact that I absolutely adored the previous two books in the trilogy, it seriously terrifies me how I couldn't even finish this book. I guess I didn't find the plot quite captivating and the photographs weren't even placed there in order to make me feel terrified while connecting them to the story. ...more
