I really enjoyed this book, both the plot and the characters. I have definitely appreciated Mia and her daughter and less the other characters. I will try to read more by this writer.

Only my second Ng book and I can already tell she is the queen of uncovering the cracks behind the facade of seemingly perfect American families. Reading her books is like wearing a beautiful handmade sweater where one day you notice a tiny weak flaw. You begin noticing every day it is slowly unraveling until it’s completely fallen apart. You can see how it fell apart but you know you would never be able to stop it.

I literally just finished this book and I had to jump on writing a review. This is one of those books where you find yourself in the shoes of each character every time they speak. And you start to question your own beliefs, values, and ideas due to the characters actions. Reading this felt like reading my favorite author, Jodi Picoult. If you like her books you will like this one. It is also a fabulous book club book!

I definetly thought this was a good read. Especially if you like literature. Not much happens but a great character study into what could happen if separate "classes" and ways of life intermingle. Very real and believable.

The TV show was a great adaptation that I think added even more depth to the characters and their struggles while also being moving and entertaining.
