This book was slow until around the halfway point. Then it really picked up. There are a ton of characters we read about but it is not hard at all to keep track and follow their journey but also to grasp the way Ng developed them. Only my second Ng book and I can already tell she is the queen of uncovering the cracks behind the facade of seemingly perfect American families.
