It's been awhile since I read YA novels but I enjoyed reading it.

A great YA novel all about one day and all that can happen in that day. Natasha and Daniel are in very different circumstance. Natasha is being deported back to Jamaica that evening and Daniel has an interview to help him to get into Yale and get his career on the right path. They meet by chance or are they meant to be?
There are many other characters whose stories are also touched on and it all comes together in the end. Some events more surprising than others, but I loved the gradual reveal. T ...more

Sonder: the realization that each passerby has a life as vivid and complex as your own.
Daniel and Natasha meet the morning of Daniel's admission interview for Yale and Natasha's last day in the US before being deported. Their paths shouldn't have crossed, but when they do it seems like the universe is pushing them together.
This is a cute story that reflects deeply on themes of fate, life purpose, and relationships. It felt overly philosophical and fanciful at some points (which is why I didn't ...more

Netgalley Honest Review #3 Stars ~ I LIKED IT!
{ARC received from Netgalley for an honest review}
The Sun Is Also a Star tells the story of Natasha & Daniel. They are polar opposites and how a chance meeting can change everything.
Natasha is Jamaican; her and her family came over to America to live the American dream. Where anything is possible. That her actor father would land many roles and become famous. Regrettably, life doesn't always turn out the way we'd like it to. Tonight they're being dep ...more

oh my God, this book! It's such a rollercoaster and amazingly written. I can't believe all of the events take part in one day.
Nicola Yoon's writing is just so fluid and takes you right into the moment and into the minds of the characters and to the places.
It reminds us that everyone and everything is connected.
Love this book, highly recommend it.
I can't wait for more by Nicola Yoon, I think she will be one of my automatic read authors.
The audiobook is also a recommendation for this book. ...more

This was an excellent story. I had already seen the movie, but this book was so much more than what was shown on the screen. I really loved the side stories and back stories throughout. Some I think were actually meant to leave the impression of a happy ending, but it seemed like it was up to the reader’s interpretation. Overall, it’s a book I’d probably read again, but just not sure. So a solid 3.5 stars.
I don't want to give anything away, but I was happy with the ending. I didn't think I was going to be!
