I'm not a mystery reader really, however, I do love YA Contemporary and Shakespeare Retellings, and this was fun. Characters-7- Cadence is the main character, and she's fun. I found her a bit problematic at times, and the supporting characters were the same. Atmosphere-6- I found myself wandering from the story a bit. The atmosphere from the Island was fine, but I wish that explored more, and we knew more about the mainland as well. Writing-8- The writing in this book was good. ...more

4.5 stars.
I really liked this one, but then again I can be demented at times.
Nice (not so nice) tale of a girl trying to remember what went wrong.
I really liked how the author wove fairy tales into the "autobiography" of the main character's telling of her own story.
(Not too sure I was happy with the ending, but hey, it is what it is, hence the 1/2 star loss.) ...more
