All the Light We Cannot See is a magnificent, deeply moving novel from a writer “whose sentences never fail to thrill”.Anthony Doerr is quite the wordsmith, he turns every sentence in this book into poetry. Somewhere around a third or halfway through the text, the plot plods along. I think this was the part where Werner was trapped in the building cellar with Volkheimer. However, on the whole, the plot was interesting.
Of the three war novels -- The Book Thief, The Nightingale, and this one -- I would consider this text the most interesting. The prose is also of better quality.

I think I'm one of the only people who has not loved this book. I actually didn't even finish it. I made it a little more than half way through before deciding to put it down. I just couldn't get into it. And picking up the book seemed like a chore and I felt like I SHOULD read it because everyone just raved about it. Don't get me wrong - the writing is fantastic, the story is interesting, but it just wasn't for me.
