Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman! by Richard Feynman

The great Feynman's mind roamed far and wide, yet at first these stories did not pull me in as they evidently did for so many others. It was only about mid-way through that I was hooked and downright sad when I came to the end of the book.
Carl Kruse and 56 other people liked Pink's review of The Odyssey:
The Odyssey by Homer
"Where do you start with a book such as this? An epic tale that has been around for almost three thousand years. I have no idea. What I do know is that I read it and loved it. I had little foreknowledge of the story and I haven't looked into the me..." Read more of this review »
Carl Kruse and 123 other people liked Renato Magalhães Rocha's review of Odisseia:
Odisseia by Homer
"It's impossible not to smile when you start reading such a classic and, after only the first few pages, you realize and completely understand why it's regarded as one of the most important works in literature. I'm always a little anxious when I ta..." Read more of this review »
Carl Kruse and 141 other people liked Glenn Russell's review of The Odyssey:
The Odyssey by Homer
"

Ever since I first read Homer’s epic describing the adventures of Odysseus back in my school days, three of those adventures fired my imagination: The Lotus Eaters, The Cyclops and the Sirens, most especially the Sirens. I just did revisit these s..." Read more of this review »

Edward Abbey
“One final paragraph of advice: do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am - a reluctant enthusiast....a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it’s still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much; I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this; You will outlive the bastards.”
