2.5 stars veering towards 2.
I didn't enjoy this as much as I thought I would.
perhaps my expectations have been heightened by reading Song of ice and fire and Stormlight archives.
I was bothered about:
1. the age of the main characters
2. the elaborate methods used which were too tedious to remember and encompass (especially towards the latter half )
3. Characters didn't seem real. The main character behaved mechanically
4. End was very much incomplete
5. The big event upon which the book was based on

So much was explained in Shadow and Bone that wasn't explained here. In Six of Crows, it's just assumed that you know what a Grisha is.

This book started out slow for me. For the first 100-150 pages,

I really enjoyed this! There was some nice backstory, and a lot or interesting world building. This story had a kind of steam punk vibe and I couldn’t tell how I felt about it since it lacked a bit of the warmth that makes me really care about the characters. There definitely is a YA feel to this that doesn’t exactly speak to me, but the fantasy elements were so well done that I had to keep reading, well-written. I would recommend this for people who enjoy fantasy, and don’t mind that undertone ...more
