I loved this book. At age 16 each person is given an aptitude test. From the results you will choose one out of five groups(factions) where you will spend the rest of your life. Your choices are with the Intelligent, the Brave, the Selfless, the Honest, or the Peaceful. If your test results show an aptitude for more than one choice you are the Divergent. The Divergent are feared by all of the five societies.

Definitely my new favorite book. I read it in one day. I had no idea it was so long (Kindle copy) until I got on later and looked it up. It certainly doesn't seem like it.

Roth has a way of writing that makes you forget you are reading. She has an easy. A way of showing emotions that, as a writer, I very much envy.

I would definitely recommend this book. In fact I have to several people.

This book is pretty much typical teen fiction. Maybe it's the teen in me, but I enjoyed it. Of course, it was predictable in certain ways, but if it wasn't, you'd leave the book feeling unsatisfied. If you enjoy dystopian young adult novels, this is the book for you.. if you yearn for twists and craziness, get something else.

A fun read although it felt rushed at times.

I am so glad that I do not live in this book. The world that Roth created felt broken, stark, and so unhappy. I will continue the series just to find out what happens and hope for light and happiness at the end.
