Unusually I broke my general rule of not reading books that I've seen the movie of first. I saw Divergent on DVD over the Christmas break, and while I sort of enjoyed it I also picked some holes in it. The person that had brought the DVD told me that the book was better, and when I saw it advertised cheaper in paperback than on kindle I thought I'd give it a try.

First, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the writing style .. I got tired of Tris' thought processes relatively quickly. Although, I didn't mind the frequent mentioning of Tobias' intensely blue eyes.
I also want to say, that if I was a young adult reading this, I would have given it 5 without a doubt.
Aside from the writing, I really do love Tobias. He might be perfect? But that's just my opinion.

Read this really quickly. It wasn't a heavy read and I loved the pacing and the fact the author didn't submerge us in pointless details. Great character development with Tris. I almost felt the emotions with her. lovely yet exciting chemistry between her and Four. I really hope the film does it justice. Need the next book, NOW!
