What Members Thought
What can I say. However much I review this book, no one is going to believe me unless they read and find out for themselves. (As I was forever thinking, what's so much to praise, its a fictional book, after all, till I started reading) Zusak made me hate Hitler with more passion and vengeance than second hand non-fictional knowledge of his own heinous deeds. This book took me a long time to read because I had to take it in stages. Rarely do I find a book that is so intense, and leaves me so drained emotionally on reading. Tears are near the surface as I finish and turn my hand to writing this. I don't have the words. Perhaps this is a review better laid aside until another day.

I'm certain most of you have heard of this book and have at least a basic knowledge of the story.
I saw the movie first, and knew that it would be a heartbreaking undertaking to pick up the book and read it, to see it unfold slowly, not jumbled and rushed like a movie. Don't misunderstand me - the movie was excellent.
The book was haunting.
Death does an excellent job giving a little of the story ahead of time, multiple times, throughout the book, so that you are not all-out ugly crying at the e ...more

I hated it. I am not sure, why though. All I know is that I wanted to slap the main charactes constantly. I could not finish it, and I never do that for a book. I foind the main characters to be whinny and annoying. I was hoping it would be another Anne Frank kind of book but it wasn't.
