This is possibly the book that I have read more than any other (the only other contenders are either The Silver Sword or The Facts Factory by Giles Brandreth - both of which fell apart in my primary school bag).

I'm writing this review a few months later, and I have to say, I'm surprised I still have the HP books on my mind. Many times I've typed on Google "harry potter similar books" and, of course, I haven't found anything like it yet, and I doubt I will. Perhaps there are many great books out there, but the huge fandom revolving around the HP books and movies make it a fascinating book and world. This is my no. 1 escapist book series. Slightly different than the movie. Explained a few things I either missed or simply weren't in the movie. Happy to see how closely the movie people followed the book, though, making only slight alterations! They certainly kept the spirit of the book.
