So even though I didn’t like this book, the movie on Amazon Prime was literally so fucking cute! I loved the actors they chose, and I thought their chemistry was very believable. This movie also had one of the best sex scenes I’ve ever seen. Highly recommend, just a really cute, queer romcom.

So... I'm a bit disappointed.
It's a good book, light-hearted, funny at times, and it's a cute read.
I was expecting it to be more about the romance, but midway through it, it became a lot about politics and Alex's mom campaign and it's not something that interests me as much.
And I guess I was also expecting to read an enemies-to-lovers book, as is advertised, but I didn't really catch where the "enemies" are. Alex disliked Henry over a comment he made when they met, but that's it.

However, I’ll try and be the most precise someone can be when it comes to recreating the emotions I went through while getting into the story of Red, White & Royal Blue.)

History, huh? This book and I have some.

After buying my copy of RWRB in late 2021, I immediately knew, deep down in my heart, that it was going to be one of my favourites. However, I’ll try and be the most precise someone can be when it comes to recreating the emotions I went through while getting into the story of Red, White & Royal Blue.)

History, huh? This book and I have some.

After buying my copy of RWRB in late 2021, I immediately knew, deep down in my heart, that it was going to be one of my favourites. It was one of those times that you just can feel it, you know?
After 2 unsuccessful attempts of starting this book due to massive reading slumps, this was the time I could finally fly through the pages. As soon as the release date for the movie came out, I knew I needed to read the book from start to finish before Amazon delivered the film to the public (I ended up not being able to achieve that goal but wasn’t that late to the (tea) party).

I won’t summarize the story of the book. Instead, I’ll just start by quoting His Royal Horniness and saying that this book is “very deeply gay”. In a general view, the story is great, with different scenarios, its charismatic characters (and not only the protagonists, but everyone in here has a not only strong but unique personality) and especially funny dialogues. A good point that has no good in being left out is the addition of extra materials in between the chapters such as text messages, tweets, newspaper pages. The combination of these little details brings a dynamic side to the book and supports the narrative by captivating the reader and giving different perspectives on the people involved in the storyline.
In the emails shared between Alex and Henry, for example, we start to understand their most intimate/personal thoughts towards each other and how beautiful the feelings they share are. It’s in those pieces of writing where we find the truthful sides of the two protagonists and the genuine connection linking London and DC they start to develop. My favourite trait about them is the bravery and inner strength they are forced to develop. I strongly admire them both not only for that, but for the undeniable chemistry they share, together with everything they exhale. The poetic personality of Henry and Alex’s free spirit.

Yesterday, I called an end to my reading journey of Red, White & Royal Blue, watching the movie at night in the calm silence of the bedroom I call my own. I smiled, I laughed, I cried. When it all ended, I felt sick, physically sick. Never in my life have I expected to be left with such an overwhelming feeling of emptiness by a book (along with the film), knowing that I could never read it or watch for the first time ever again.
This is why I live and breathe books; cause books can touch you where you didn’t know you could ever be touched.
This story held much power, many feelings, and the entirety of my heart. Somehow, I just hope that Henry and Alex found the way to each other in each and every single universe.

Nunca en mi vida me reí tanto con un libro. No leí muchas comedias románticas, pero esta es muuuy buena.

Tampoco te vuela la cabeza. Es una lectura, dentro de todo, ligera, divertida, sexy y tierna. Tiene un montón de referencias a cosas actuales como cantantes, series, programas y, obviamente, a la política.

A mí me entretuvo bastante el tema de la política y no me aburrió. Toda la campaña de la madre de Alex es muy interesante sabiendo que es una la primera presidente mujer.

this book was cute!! i loved the plot and the characters. specifically the side charecters! nora/june/bea 😛 obviously alexes humor was great, and the emails were one of my favorite parts. i mean like the political thing going on didn’t bother me and i actually liked it as the sub plot:) i laughed, smiled, and got angry all at the same time.

something i didn’t like: THE LONG CHAPTERS. like i’m not gonna read 40 page chapters LMAO. but i feel like the end of the book was so rewarding cuz i r ...more

There was some pacing issues but I really enjoyed the fluff and romance. Yeah, it's idealistic but honestly I would LOVE to live in a world like that. It's very cute but I feel like the middle part was kinda slow and then BOOM! conclusion. I enjoyed the marauders references a LOT though! It was a fun read. ...more

3.5 rounded up to a 4. the lack of an Oxford comma in the title is painful to me. I am so sorry but this book reads like that one gif of Steve Buscemi saying “how do you do fellow kids?” It had its moments though, and the ending made me smile
