Oh man this was so creepy! I kind of want to see a movie adaptation but also kind of don't need the nightmares? I'm glad I read it because I think it has had a strong influence on science fiction. And since I read The Time Machine a few months ago, I picked up on some similar plot devices and themes in Wells's writing from that. Love this book. I've been meaning to read it for quite a while. Unfortunately it's one of those books that is only scary when you know the historical context of the ethical debates of medical science at the time it was written. But as a person with disabilities I can certainly sympathize with the fear of unending medical experimentation. Also, the movie scared the crap out of me. If you're too used to modern, Stephen King style horror, you're probably not going to get a lot out of this, but it's

Absolutely hated reading this book but knew it had to be done. it's banned in lots of places and with good reason. ManBeasts and the like are not for the faint at heart. The age old question of just because you can doesn't mean you should is answered again and again through Wells' pages. Playing God never works.
