Very, very engaging book. For anyone who loves animals some portions are difficult to read. Additionally parts of the story are told from the viewpoint of an old man and are quite thought-provoking about our elders and how they really feel. The story is very absorbing as are the characters; while I didn't have particularly strong feelings about Marlena (although I was proud of her taking a stand) I was rooting for Jacob all the way. ...more
