Many memorable, well developed characters. Nothing was wasted. Everything you read in the early part of the book, ties into something else by the end. Masterful use of language. It's interesting to note that the now accepted conclusion is not what Dickens had originally wrote. I am in the camp of favoring the first version, which pictured a more or less unchanged Estella and a decidedly less happy ending. ...more
