The gist: I've been familiar with this story forever. I've seen the Winona Ryder adaptation probably a dozen times, and I was obsessed with the Great Illustrated Classics version as a kid. But this is my first adult readthrough of the whole, unabridged story. While I didn't love it *quite* as much as my younger self did, I did still love it quite a bit. It does get very preachy at times ...more
