What Members Thought

I usually love multigenerational stories, but for some reason I found this book somewhat ponderous and hard to follow. It could be because I listened to the audiobook and the pronunciation of the names made it hard to keep the characters straight. I think if I had read the print book I would have enjoyed it more. I think it will be worth a revisit in the future.

I've seen so many 5-star reviews for this book, and I expected to be among them, but... I can't. I'm sorry. I found it surprisingly sloppy and gratuitously grotesque. It was 100 Years of Solitude with only half as much crazy and way more vivid detail, and frankly, 100 Years is palatable because of all the crazy and the lack of vivid detail.
